Making a quilt so i don't spend all my time thinking about the wedding!
I'm finally making a quilt from The"Last-Minute Patchwork+Quilted Gifts" Book! I signed up for a workshop at Effiloché. The guy sits with me and tells me what and how to do the pattern.
These are the fabrics that I chose for the colored part and I bought a purple burgundy as the background color. The Amy Butler fabrics aren't cheap but it's worth it. The whole quilt will probably end up costing about 80$. After this I'll know all the techniques and will be able to keep costs down. I wonder, if I work really hard in the next few weeks, if I can have it made by Rhinebeck!

time flies when you're having fun...
so let's recap the past couple of weeks:
you are engaged!!!! and brought aux vivres to celebrate!!!! best two surprises in a row ever!
Josh and I are married!!! and thanks to you and andreas and our families, had a more beautiful day than we could have ever dreamed of! every part of it went so perfectly! I can't wait to get all the pictures so we can relive it. it went by so fast!!
then...we had the most amazing honeyoon! it was so beautiful Isa! I can't even begin to explain! We are definitely going to Pelee island for a holiday together! The weather was beautiful, the wine was amazing, the people were lovely...it's like a little bit of heaven right here on lake Erie.
I still can't believe all that has happened in the past couple of weeks. It's been so beautiful and made me so happy about where we are in our lives. I can't wait to see what more there is to come. Your wedding, your new place, more travels and hopefully some more veggie lox in our near future..? my treat next time, maybe even in Montreal...!?

The Beginning
So, I have been bad about posting ever since I came down for your wedding. I have a back log of pictures to put up from our visit. Let me start at the beginning...
On Saturday, July 11 at 7:30am, in our bed, Andreas asked me to marry him....I said yes.
Then we had a long breakfast and joined both our parents for a day at the Jean-Talon Market to shop for a birthday dinner we were having that night. As you can see it was raining really hard that day. So we whisked our parents into a bakery and announced that we were getting married. They were surprised and happy. Tears and kisses and then more tears and kisses. Italians say that rain on your wedding day is a sign that wealth will come into your life...we're starting off pretty good. Honestly, if it doesn't rain on everyone's wedding day this summer. I guess that the recession is bound to end, so there's nowhere left to go but up.
That's it for the series of pictures for today. As a side note, I baked a cherry pie today! It's good...

Poached Salmon Salad
I made this great salad yesterday with the veggies from the farmer's basket. I love poached salmon! It's super easy and fast. I thought that it's the kind of meal you'd really like. I got it from Meals at Home. Try it some time.

the little things in life...
things have been so hectic and busy lately. I've been trying hard to remind myself that's it the little pleasures in life that make all the difference. So, on my way to work yesterday I stopped and smelled the roses. literally. Then I picked them and put them on my desk where I got to enjoy them while I indulged in a little oatmeal and pre work reading.
and today I decided to skip work altogether and have a "mental health day". I'm totally ignoring chores and to do lists (although I did organize our tupperware drawer....) and just kicking back . I made myself the ultimate comfort food for lunch: a grilled cheese sandwich. I made it with cheddar and apples on potato and chive bread Josh brought home last night. mmm... and yes I am still wearing my pjs (the ones you made me!)
can't wait till our honeymoon ( can't beleive it's in 12 days!!)! it's gonna be a mental health marathon!

Nonna's Birthday Feast-Part1
Tomorrow's Nonna's birthday party. We've been cooking all night. I'm making a strawberry rhubarb crumble. My mom requested Andreas' potato salad. It is so good! There's capers and basil and mint and so many other delicious things. I should post the recipe for you. That's what he's doing right now. Am I the only one who looks forward to tomorrow's lunch at bedtime? My jeans are getting pretty tight. But with all these local fruits, it can't be all bad.

Rainy Saturday Morning
I don't mind the rain when I can stay in my pajamas and not have to go to work.
Ta-da! One February Lady Sweater and one February Baby sweater for your viewing pleasure. My grandmother's birthday is on Wednesday, this is her gift. The baby sweater is for a baby recently named Monroe-Lily Michel. I plan to deliver it to her today with a loaf of Coconut Bread. Knitting girl baby sweaters really make you want to have little girls!

my Mom is here this week end to help us get some stuff done (she's so awesome like that)
and Josh's Granny sent us some nuptial funds, so Mom took me out to ikea to buy us our first brand new dining table! It's so pretty and white and shiny....
Can't wait to crack open the bubbly and have a nice long leisurely dinner....;)
The chairs are arriving tomorrow, more pictures to come.
